Our purpose

Energy is going through the biggest wave of disruption in generations. We’re a renewable energy start-up that’s loving this disruption and using it to get more renewable energy into the grid by working with industry-leading companies.

We’re now looking for a CTO to work closely with our CEO, investor and external partners including progressive technology companies such as Tesla. You’ll define and lead our technology space and find pragmatic and simple solutions to complex problems. You’ll be a critical member of the company’s leadership team and rather than run IT as a cost centre, you’ll help grow profitability by seizing the opportunity to provide valuable solutions to our customers. 

What does your typical day look like?

• You’ll develop a technology strategy to accelerate the delivery of our business-wide vision of accelerating the roll-out of distributed renewable energy. The strategy will include the development of new products and features as well as reducing cost through increased business-wide automation.
• You’ll efficiently integrate third party energy software with our core systems. That may involve leading some degree of custom development. 
• You’ll work closely with an overseas distributed energy management platform that our investor has recently acquired to help tailor it for use in VPP orchestration in the Australian market. 
• You’ll ensure that the company’s technology systems and infrastructure are both lightweight and scalable to support future growth in an efficient manner. 
• You’ll provide leadership to our small but amazing IT team and define the business case to grow additional resources and capability. 
• You’ll take charge of the decisions that we will take over the critical, core billing platforms that underpin so much of what we do, and this will include managing and renegotiating existing contracts.
• You’ll build and maintain a roadmap of technology initiatives, and recommend the priority and timing of investment to improve business-wide performance and support revenue growth.
• Crucially, you’ll continually find creative solutions to complex problems on a daily basis.

Enough about us - let's talk about you:

• 5+ years of IT management experience
• A passion for renewable energy and the drive to find ways to accelerate the deployment of it
• A highly quant-based mindset with the passion for, and recent experience in, managing large data sets
• A demonstrable ability to absorb the highly technical processes that are a key part of our industry and simplify their use in our business
• Experience of complex third party integrations
• The ability to roll your sleeves up and get stuck into solution implementation as required - as a start-up, we all get dirt under our fingernails on a regular basis and we learn faster for it
• A systems mindset with the vision to see how automation can be achieved - and the intellectual capability to achieve it
• Impeccable written and verbal communication skills along with strong quantitative and analytical ability 
• Proven leadership ability 

Ideal:

• Some form of energy industry experience 
• Experience in high growth start-up environments
• Experience in the use of process design and improvement methodologies in an IT environment
