Do you have the drive to Identify the emerging future requirements of the Tasmanian distribution and transmission networks and in consultation with customers and other stakeholders, develop strategies and strategic plans to deal with existing and emerging issues to maximise the utilisation, reliability and resilience of the network?
Can you facilitate the modification or extension of the network to facilitate new connections to the distribution and transmission networks and ensure TasNetworks meets its compliance obligations with respect to system planning.

Can you deliver?
- Provide expert technical advice on all network planning matters
- Developing and presenting to the business strategic network augmentation plans;
- Be able to act in the role of Team leader as required;
- Be capable of representing TasNetworks in external network planning forums;
- Provide mentoring and guidance to other less experienced team members and graduates;
- Assist with the development of the forward program of work;
- Undertake activities related to network planning as required to allow TasNetworks to meet its compliance obligations;
- Meet with external stakeholders to gain an understanding of what they require from the network
- Any other duty or task as reasonably and lawfully directed by TasNetworks.
What does success look like?
€¢ Have tertiary qualifications in electrical engineering with a minimum of 5-6 years' of modelling or system planning experience relevant to the Electricity Supply Industry;
€¢ Possess a detailed knowledge of the Tasmanian electricity system (or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge);
€¢ Have a detailed understanding of the power system security/reliability requirements for both transmission and distribution networks;
€¢ Have a detailed understanding of a Network Service Providers role for the provisions of connection services with respect to the National Electricity Rules.
€¢ Excellent communication and report writing skills;
€¢ Be able to undertake the required regulatory economic justification for network augmentation projects;
€¢ Have a detailed understanding of the technical issues and challenges related to operating a network in the NEM;
€¢ Be able to use PSCAD, PSS/E and/or SINCAL proficiently and be able to mentor others in their use;
€¢ Be capable of working individually with little or no direct supervision, or lead a small team;
€¢ Have a demonstrated ability to think strategically, delivering sound solutions to complex problems in an uncertain and evolving external environment; and
€¢ Have a high level of both internal and external stakeholder management skills;
