The Western Australian Energy Minister has opened the 2012 Energy in Western Australia Conference be reiterating his Government’s commitment to ‘placing downward pressure’ on energy costs and announcing the makeup of an industry, consumer and Government roundtable to develop the State’s energy future.

“Today I announce the makeup of the Roundtable of Energy Consumers and Industry, which will provide a forum for Government, through the Energy Minister, to directly engage consumers and industry on how we achieve affordable, secure, reliable and cleaner energy,” Minister Peter Collier said.

“The roundtable will consist of 11 permanent and eight rotational members and encourage discussion about the sector’s issues that ultimately have an impact on consumers.

“The importance of this roundtable cannot be underestimated as it will provide the opportunity for community focused organisations such as the Western Australian Council of Social Services to engage with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA, or the Chamber of Minerals and Energy WA to discuss future generation requirements and opportunities with the Sustainable Energy Association of Australia.”
