Progress has been made on South Australia’s biggest battery.

SA’s largest battery storage project, the Blyth battery, has hit key milestones including concrete pours and the arrival of CATL battery modules.

This project, set to be completed this year, has been expanded to 238.5 MW / 477 MWh to provide “baseload renewables” for BHP’s Olympic Dam mine.

Developed by French firm Neoen, the battery will draw power from the under-construction Goyder South wind farm, contributing to the grid services market and energy arbitrage by leveraging excess renewable energy.
