The Tasmanian Minister for Energy and Resources, Bryan Green, has announced that the Expert Panel reviewing Tasmania’s electricity supply industry was on track to deliver its final report to the State Government by the end of the year.

Mr Green said a draft of the panel’s findings was due in October with its final report to be handed down in mid-December.

“The review will help shape Government energy policy to deliver on community expectations in the future,” Mr Green said at the 2011 Tasmanian Energy Conference.

“The Panel’s findings will be a key input into the Government's consideration of any future reform to the sector."

Mr Green said the panel had received 17 submissions from industry, business and community organisations as well as individuals.

“The review has reinforced the complexity of issues facing the State’s electricity supply industry.

“It has been an open and consultative process showing there is a diverse range of views not only about the way the sector is operating but also in relation to possible solutions to some of the challenges we face,” Mr Green said.
