Spanish energy company Acciona Energia has revealed its proposal for the Nyaninyuk wind farm.

Acciona’s planned wind farm would be its fourth venture in Victoria, comprising an array of 58 turbines.

The proposed site, located west of Mt Beckworth within the Pyrenees Shire, was strategically chosen to maximise energy generation.

The Nyaninyuk wind farm is projected to generate 330 megawatts of renewable energy annually.

The company is gearing up to submit an Environmental Effects Statement later this year, adding to a string of wind farm proposals across the south-western region of Victoria.

Acciona has operated the Waubra wind farm since 2009.

Melanie Sutton, the company’s local Head of Policy, says Acciona intends to foster dialogue and understanding throughout the development process.

The next phase, involving planning and consultation, could extend up to two years.
