As Climate & Sustainability Projects Officer you will drive Council's transition to net zero emissions as part of a passionate and highly motivated Sustainable Environment team of professionals.
You will also:
Deliver up-to-date knowledge of environmental best practice, new innovations, and environmental tools to enable Council to achieve its environmental objectives.
Develop and deliver environmental initiatives to support Council’s transition to zero corporate emissions.
Track, monitor and report on Council’s environmental performance, including emissions and resource consumption.
Manage Council's corporate greenhouse gas emissions monitoring, modelling, and reporting.
Deliver Council building electrification projects (e.g., converting pools from gas to electric power), energy efficiency upgrades, and installation of rooftop solar and battery systems.
Support progressive electrification of Council’s light and heavy fleet.
Provide expert support in planning and delivery of Council’s capital program to ensure climate action commitments are embedded and sustainability outcomes maximised.
This is a permanent full time position with an annual salary range of $95,013 - $102,899 per annum + 11.5 % superannuation. We come together at least 3 days a week so we can collaborate in our vibrant office culture. When on-site you will enjoy modern and sustainable facilities and office spaces.
You are based within our bright, modern and sustainable Tooronga Depot office which is located next to Tooronga Train station and walking distance to Tooronga Village Shopping Centre. As a permanent employee you also get access to our wellbeing program, employee assistance counselling program and receive 17.5% additional pay when on annual leave.
Desired Skills and Experience

You also have:
A proficient understanding of climate change, greenhouse gas emissions, energy efficiency, electrification, and resource management in an organisational context, and effective actions that support a transition to zero carbon corporate emissions.
Demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of corporate emission reduction projects, including preparing project briefs and managing contractors and budgets.
Demonstrated experience working with multidisciplinary teams to facilitate successful cross-organisational projects.
Highly effective communication and collaboration skills with the proven ability to build internal and external relationships and gain buy-in and support from key stakeholders to deliver project outcomes.
Practiced use of initiative and autonomy to innovate and explore continuous improvement opportunities.
Tertiary qualifications in sustainability, environmental management, environmental science, renewable energy, energy management, engineering, or other related discipline and/or demonstrated practical experience in these areas.
