Energy Content Producer

Role Overview

The Energy Content Producer plays a key role in the Content & PR team at Canstar Blue, Australia’s most trusted comparison site, by providing a range of writing, data analysis and digital content monetisation skills across the electricity, gas, solar, renewable and carbon-neutral energy business areas. 

The Energy Content Producer is responsible for writing helpful, unbiased news and SEO-focused features on energy products, markets, events and advice for an Australian consumer audience. Leveraging proprietary research, market analysis and digital tools, a keen eye for interesting insights in data are essential parts of the job. 

The Energy Content Producer uses their awareness of Australian households' energy needs to match content with digital monetisation tools, so strong commercial instincts when it comes to creating effective calls to action in content are a great attribute. As a subject specialist, the role supports Canstar Blue’s public relations and marketing campaigns and product development in the consumer energy space, by providing advice on energy products, markets and events. 

Reporting to Canstar Blue’s Utilities Editor, the Energy Content Producer works closely with colleagues both in the Content & PR team to deliver content, marketing and PR strategies and with colleagues in commercial, research and tech teams to deliver consumer comparison services that help Aussie consumers make informed purchasing decisions. 

Skills & Experience

  • Degree-level qualification in Journalism, Communications or similar 
  • Three to five years’ content production experience, ideally in a digital environment
  • Experience and/or interest in one or more energy sectors: electricity, gas, solar, renewable or carbon-neutral energy
  • Familiarity with SEO in content and digital environments and the ability to implement SEO recommendations
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics or similar in tracking performance and developing insights for optimisation 
  • The ability to interpret complex research findings to identify content opportunities 
  • The ability to understand content monetisation in order to drive optimum revenue outcomes
  • Excellent content writing skills, with outstanding attention to detail and accuracy 
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to work independently on multiple projects 
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to optimum outcomes.
