JOB PURPOSE

This position is for a mid-level Environmental Consultant role as part of the NGH team. At least 5 years’ experience is required.

A large part of your work will be in undertaking assessments in the renewable energy sector, including on solar, wind and hydro energy projects in collaboration with specialists and senior staff. The position will require knowledge of the NSW and / or ACT legislation, with experience in the preparation of environmental assessments and management plans. You are required to write reports, liaise with clients, provide costings, in collaboration with other team members. You will be required to meet a high standard of quality and ethics and to justify your decisions against relevant legislative and policy criteria. It is a pivotal role providing the core services of our company.

MAIN DUTIES 

  • Understand environmental impact assessment documents prepared under State and Federal legislation and use this knowledge to independently undertake assessments such as REFs and SEEs

  • Liaise with clients and stakeholders, including government agencies

  • Manage project teams which may include in-house technical staff (e.g. ecologists, heritage officers) or external sub consultants (e.g. acoustic, contaminated sites)

  • Prepare specialist sub plans, including Erosion and Sedimentation Control Plans

  • Manage projects within cost, time and quality objectives

  • Prepare proposals and costings

  • Administer projects in accordance with nghenvironmental’s management systems

  • Understand the subcontractor management process, manage subcontractors effectively and assist/support administration staff in the collection of subcontractor documentation.

  • Participate in the WHS consultation process by contributing to WHS discussion including risk identification and controls and cooperation and coordination with all duty holders who share WHS responsibilities.

This position could be filled in either our Wagga, Bega or Canberra office. Our offices work together closely and there is opportunity for relocations and for undertaking work on diverse projects and geographical areas.

The majority of our work is in renewable energy assessments and linear infrastructure across NSW. We are leaders in renewable energy constraints assessment, impact assessment and environmental management planning. This is a challenging and exciting industry. In undertaking your role, you will be supported by a team with extensive expertise in complex infrastructure projects.

This position requires a dedicated professional to join our team. You will be expected to show initiative and the ability to work independently both in the field and the office, with ready access to Managers and Directors when guidance is required. You would be required to undertake site work and travel as needed.

SELECTION CRITERIA

To be considered for this position, please address the following in your application:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science/Engineering or Natural Resource Management

  • Significant demonstrated Australian experience in environmental impact assessment and or environmental management

  • Sound knowledge of relevant NSW and / or ACT and Federal environmental legislation and policy

  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written

  • Knowledge of WHS responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant WHS training

  • Drivers licence
