About the Opportunity 

The City of Palmerston is seeking a committed Smart Cities Technology Officer to coordinate the operation and maintenance development of Council’s electrical infrastructure including street/ public lighting and buildings. Furthermore, you will investigate, develop and implement technologies for the Council’s infrastructure such as building management systems, energy efficiency, street lighting and Smart Cities. 

Some of the key responsibilities of this role are:

  • Oversee the operational management of Council’s electrical infrastructure such public place lighting (including street lighting) and implementation of Smart Cities technologies
  • Manage the performance of relevant contractors and developers
  • Liaise and coordinate with Power Water Corporation and other stakeholders as required
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of an Asset Management Plan
  • Develop, maintain and deliver relevant procedures, strategies and technical documents
  • Provide professional and technical advice to senior management and Council staff
  • Maintain a 10 year forward works program for Lighting and Smart Cities infrastructure
  • Develop and oversee cyclic maintenance programs and reactive works
  • Optimise electricity usage for lighting and buildings
  • Prepare and implement emergency and disaster plans and participate in emergency management as required
  • Address, action and respond to customer requests and complaints in a timely manner
  • Assist the Technical Services team as required

To be considered for this vacancy you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in engineering or a related field 
  • A minimum of five years of demonstrated experience in electrical systems management including a focus on street lighting
  • Demonstrated experience in asset management practices, including program and plan development
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of electrical legislative requirements and standards
  • Demonstrated high level written skills, including report writing, contract documentation, and correspondence writing
  • Current C Class NT Driver’s Licence

About the Benefits 

This position is an on-going position with full-time hours (76 hours per fortnight, some on-call, after-hours and weekend work may be required). The position is paid at Level 6 ($81,930 - $85,888 + superannuation). Council offers six weeks’ annual leave and a wide range of attractive employee benefits.
