As Lead Data Analyst in the Energy Business Unit, you will be responsible for leading the application of data science, analytics and machine learning techniques for energy sector data. You will design and implement data science solutions for various external and internal clients. Collaborating with stakeholders to build, validate, improve and represent data science models such as classification, deep learning, and forecasting models will be one of the key components of what you'll do.  We are looking for someone with experience in various stages of the data cycle, such as data capture and data preparation (including handling of near real time, high frequency data), as well as familiarity with data management tools and systems.

Your duties will include:
  • Designing and managing the implementation of data science solutions to support our partners.
  • Selecting the right tools and visualisations to analyse and present various datasets on the back of in-depth stakeholder engagement.
  • Implementing statistical and machine learning models to turn raw data into energy domain and business insights.
  • Making significant contributions to the interpretation and communication of research and collaborating on drafting presentations and written reports.

Salary: AU$98k - AU$106k plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be considered you will need:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in statistics, machine learning, software engineering, computer science or data science.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant data science/analysis work experience aligned to the key result areas as listed in the position description.
  • The ability to write research code using languages such as R, Python.
  • Practical experience in at least three of the following areas; deep learning, clustering, classification, time series analytics, big data, data management, cloud computing infrastructures, data visualisation tools, software engineering tools (e.g. Spark or Shiny).
  • An enthusiasm and aptitude for applied research solving current problems to support our commercial partners.
