As a Manager Project Controls Standards accountable for the development, management and ownership of the Major Projects standards related to the core project controls disciplines of estimating, cost control, planning and scheduling, information and change management

  • You will establish the Project Controls function and oversee the development of the relevant standards to support application of the industry best practice standards for estimating, cost control, planning and scheduling, information and change management across the portfolio.
  • Lead the establishment of the Major Projects estimating data library while maintain ongoing engagement and transparency with the wider organisational estimating functions.
  • Development of standardised schedules to improve the predictability of the outcomes across the portfolio and reducing variability of the outcomes in the early project stages.
  • Overseeing the Project Controls Standards team to actively participate in the lessons learned, project review and project close out activities to capture actualised data and ensure key cost/schedule related risks are reflected in the standardised templates.

The community you will join

Based in our Bowen Hills Office, reporting to Major Projects Portfolio Director, this role will support the development and delivery of Powerlink’s portfolio of Major Projects by embedding best practice standards for project controls across the portfolio. You will actively collaborate with leaders within the individual major projects to drive consistency and identify opportunities to create the Major Projects data library to improve predictability and efficiency across the total collective pipeline.

Our Major Projects Office exists to manage the governance and controls that underpin the lifecycle of our large-scale projects - establishing our strategic aspiration to become a major developer that safely delivers complex and significant CAPEX projects over the next decade.

Your expertise

Essential

  • Degree level qualification in Engineering, Management, Business, Finance and/or lower level qualification in a relevant discipline if coupled with significant experience within a project controls function across a sizable portfolio of projects in the relevant industry.
  • Close familiarity with the relevant planning (e.g. Primavera and MS Project), EVM, Cost Management and Estimating (e.g. EcoSys) tools and methodologies, as well as reporting platforms (e.g. Power BI).
  • Proven experience working with high profile and significant projects.

We’d also love you to have:

  • Extensive experience in project environment, with good understanding of both in greenfield and brownfield development and delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience in project controls, both hands on and in a team leader capacity in a major projects environment.
  • Proven ability to develop, own and maintain division-wide standards, frameworks, and procedures, ensuring their full embedment and consistent application.
  • In-depth understanding of Project Lifecycle, from inception to commissioning, including ability to verify and challenge the application of the planning and scheduling and estimating techniques.
