Energy Advisor

Just imagine your future with us…

At Aurecon we see the future through a very different lens. Do you?

Innovation, eminence and digital are at the heart of everything we do.  Are you excited about the future?

Are you driven by the opportunity to work on some of the most challenging and complex projects around the world and to learn from the best? We are.

Diversity is at the core of everything we do. We work together to create a culture based on respect, trust and inclusiveness. Our differences are what fuel our creativity.

We embrace flexible working and are always open to discussing your individual needs so that you get to create your own experience with us.

What will you do?

Work with our clients’ strategic decision makers to identify and tackle their most pressing challenges and exciting opportunities, helping them to navigate the uncertainty within our transitioning energy markets and value chains.

Energy systems and markets are the most complex machines in the world, and are undergoing massive transformation, impacting all of our clients. To decarbonise, economies will have to question every aspect of their energy, process, material and mobility decisions across every industry. Some of the technologies we will need to transition do not yet exist. How do we make decisions with that uncertainty? How are governments and industries positioned to chart their course in transitioning to net zero emissions?

As a member of our Brisbane-based team (other locations negotiable), you will need to be able to consider complex problems from the perspectives of our clients and their customers to deliver practical and pragmatic solutions considering sustainability, reliability and cost.

You will be involved in delivering fast paced engagements and need to be self-directed in managing your workload across multiple projects and commitments.

You will need to be able to help frame challenging decarbonisation problems, perform detailed techno-economic analysis and research, identify technical, commercial and strategic insights and then be able to clearly and concisely communicate concepts in written and verbal formats to both internal and external senior stakeholders.

You will be outcomes focused and identify where you can provide the most value, which will allow you to identify commercial opportunities with clients.  Engagements you work on will include the development of: modelling tools, thinking frameworks, strategies, roadmaps, due diligence, business cases, optioneering studies, high level concepts and market analysis. You will work with clients that are large energy users across a range of sectors, investors, government organisations and utilities.

We know the work we do is vital in assisting our world’s sustainable economic development and it’s the technical expertise and the depth of knowledge of our people that really sets us apart. Here are the key things you will need to have in order to ‘bring ideas to life’.

  • Tertiary qualification in engineering, science, economics and / or commerce
  • A self-starter mentality, able to pre-empt the next task or question and thinking through a range of solutions before seeking advice
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, team working and report writing skills
  • Broader professional or consulting experience

Experience in the following areas would be viewed favourably:

  • Net-zero emissions and sustainability strategy / policy
  • Electricity generation and storage technologies, including: renewables, gas powered generation, batteries and pumped hydro
  • Energy market operations and fundamentals
  • Carbon markets
  • Project/Asset due diligence
  • Emissions analysis and benchmarking
  • Discounted cashflow analysis
  • Emerging technologies and markets e.g. hydrogen, electric vehicles, Distributed Energy Resources, Virtual Power Plants
  • Risk analysis

We know today’s complex challenges can only be solved through bringing together diverse teams of people from across our business, so there will be opportunities for you to apply your skills and creativity to projects in other geographies and markets.

What can you bring to the team?

Firstly, you will share our genuine passion for re-imagining engineering and be someone that actively pursues continuous learning to help shape the future. You will also need a relevant technical qualification.

Our Aurecon Attributes describe the types of people we bring together for clients. We don’t expect you to have all eight of the attributes, but one that is unique to you.

Finally, we value that each of our team members brings something different to Aurecon. We look for people who have had a broad range of experiences throughout their career and can demonstrate how they have worked as part of a team to bring ideas to life. Does that sound like you?
