Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) is the leading Victorian Government Statutory Authority responsible for the safety and technical regulation of electricity, gas and pipelines for all Victorians. Within the Policy and Strategy division, a rare opportunity has evolved for a Principal Strategic Advisor to drive strategic planning and introduce ongoing organisational improvements.  

Reporting to the Executive Manager, Policy and Strategy, this position requires a professional and self-motivated performer to drive strategic and cross functional business initiatives; partner and engage with leaders across the executive leadership team to initiate and execute strategies through analysis and provide recommendations and guidance used to maximise business outcomes. Responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating ESV’s annual planning working collaboratively across the organisation and driving continual improvement

  • Coordinating ESV’s annual risk review maximising value to the organisation

  • Leading a major project to improve ESV’s investigation and enforcement processes

The ideal candidate will have a tertiary qualification preferably in engineering, science or technology, along with demonstrated experience in policy development and a thorough understanding of the principles and application of safety management, relevant legislation, standards and codes preferably in relation to energy safety. In addition to this proven project management and strategic planning experience is required.
