Senior Electrical Engineer NGR

 

Queensland Rail has a fixed term fulltime opportunity for 23 months within our Rollingstock Engineering team for a Senior Electrical Engineer NGR (New Generation Rollingstock). 

The role shall support the design review, testing and certification processes for the introduction of Automatic Train Operation (ATO) and integration of Platform Screen Door (PSD) systems into the NGR.

A typical day in this role will involve a mix of tasks such as:

  • Provide Technical Assurance by undertaking a comprehensive review of the ATO over ETCS and Platform Screen Door Systems integrated into NGR Rolling Stock detailed design.
  • Actively engage in collaborative design review workshops and meetings.
  • Conduct technical reviews and offer support for prototype, series production, and testing activities.
  • On track testing – witness on track dynamic testing of rollingstock.
  • Perform technical assurance reviews.
  • Provide technical management and coordination throughout prototype and series production, reviewing documentation to ensure SEMS compliance.

What you will bring:

  • Knowledge of a rollingstock maintenance environment in relation to ETCS.
  • Skill in carrying out rollingstock fault-finding investigations, audits and providing technical support and advice to relevant stakeholders.
  • High level of skill in formulating the documentation required for introducing new work practices and technologies for the maintenance of rollingstock.
  • Experience with design reviews. 
  • Technical knowledge of ETCS operation would be beneficial. 


Formal qualification requirements:
 
We will only be able to accept candidate applications from whom currently hold a Professional Bachelor of Engineering Electrical qualification or equivalent qualification that is accepted by Queensland Rail.   

Your qualification must be either issued by a recognised Australian University or recognised under the Washington Accord or demonstrated by ‘an entry to practice competently’ having been awarded to you by Engineers Australia. 

Location/hours: 

  • Office is currently based in Brisbane CBD, near Roma Street train station.
  • Our standard working hours are 38 hour per work week Monday to Friday, however we are seeking someone who is able to commit to intermittent weekend and night shifts to support dynamic testing activities. Overtime benefits will apply.  

Employment eligibility - due to the timeline of the requirements for this role, we will only be able to accept candidates with unrestricted eligibility to be employed within Australia.
