• Salary band SES1: $207,116 - $267,445 TRP

The Energy Group within the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) plays a key role in supporting a significant transformation of the energy sector in Victoria. The Energy Demand, Efficiency and Safety Division leads government policy on energy demand management, energy efficiency and energy safety to support the delivery of safe, reliable, affordable energy to Victorians and the transition of Victoria’s energy system to low emissions. The Division also provides ongoing energy security advice and energy emergency management services working with key stakeholders across government and industry and the electricity, gas and liquid fuels sectors.

Director, Energy Safety & Security

Reporting to the Executive Director Energy Demand, Efficiency and Safety you will lead five specialist teams to drive reform and improvement relating to energy safety, energy emergency management, energy security and preparedness, and gas pipeline regulation. 

You will provide quality, timely policy advice and recommendations to Ministers, the Secretary and Deputy Secretary within a complex and fast-paced environment. You will lead the Energy Group’s energy emergency management functions, building and maintaining the Group’s capability and capacity to respond to energy emergencies in accordance with the Emergency Management Act. You will also build trusted and collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, including Emergency Management Victoria, Energy Safe Victoria and the Australian Energy Market Operator.
