Queensland Energy Minister Mark McArdle has chaired the Queensland Consumer and Energy Reference Group, promising a renewed focus on consumer protection and rights.

“The Reference Group will hear from Dr John Tamblyn and Mr John Ryan who are looking at the establishment of the new national consumer advocacy body,” Mr McArdle said.

“The new body will be established through the Standing Committee on Energy and Resources, to give consumers a greater voice,” Mr McArdle said.

“Today’s meeting will seek input from our consumer groups about Queensland’s representation on the new National Consumer Advocacy Body, and how to ensure it is accountable back to Queensland consumers.
