Endeavour Energy is one of Australia's largest energy distributors, or 'poles and wires' businesses, responsible for the safe and reliable supply of electricity to 2.4 million people in households and businesses across Sydney's Greater West, the Blue Mountains, the Southern Highlands, the Illawarra and South Coast.

We are 50.4 per cent owned by an Australian-led consortium of long-term investors within the private sector operating the network under a 99 year lease.  The remaining 49.6 per cent is held by the NSW Government.

We are currently seeking to appoint a HSE Systems Manager within the HSE Strategy & Systems team.

Key responsibilities:

Reporting to Manager HSE Strategy & Systems you will be responsible for:

  • Management and ongoing development of the Environmental Management System (EMS), which includes organisational structure, planning activities, responsibilities, practices, procedures, processes, and resources for developing, implementing, achieving, reviewing, and maintaining the system and also managing the environmental risks associated with Endeavour Energy's operations. Endeavour Energy's EMS is certified to ISO14001:2015. Working directly with operational environmental personnel, this strategic position is required to support the delivery of programs and track the environmental performance of the organisation to facilitate continual improvement.

Key challenges:

  • Alignment of the components within the system;
  • Maintaining Certification, and undertaking preparations for annual surveillance audits
  • Integrating the system with business operations so that the system is connected throughout the organisation hierarchy;
  • Keeping up to date with developments in legislation, standards and codes of practice and integrating these with the system;
  • Maintaining good governance of the EMS system balanced by the need for practical application and implementation of the system with the front line;
  • Undertake NGERs reporting where required; and,
  • Translating system requirements to frontline management and worker accountabilities and actions.

Key requirements (Qualifications, certifications, experience and skills):

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environment, and equivalent relevant experience
  • Specialised professional with demonstrated experience in a similar management systems role;
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving & communication skills (influencing, writing & reporting);
  • Results-driven achiever with exemplary planning and organisational skills, along with a high degree of detail orientation; and
  • Flexible team player who thrives in environments requiring ability to effectively prioritise and juggle multiple concurrent projects.
